Patimban New City masterplan

A 528 hectare mixed-use and waterfront development concept masterplan within Patimban New City, Indonesia.

Case Studies

Patimban New City, Subang, Indonesia

BDP were commissioned by JICA for the West Java Government to develop the concept masterplan for Patimban New City, Indonesia.

Located on a flood-prone site, between mangrove forests and Patimban’s port, our vision seeks to unlock the potential of the area to create a catalyst for a resilient, ecological and prosperous waterfront development which promotes a symbiotic relationship between its communities, nature and the built environment.

Through the creation of a forward-thinking city-wide green infrastructure network strategy, our concept proposes a spectrum of green infrastructure components including rain gardens, green roofs, attenuation ponds and tanks, bio-retention swales, wetland filtration beds, enhanced green space, porous hard surfaces, floating planting and aeration systems. Combined with conservation and stewardship opportunities identified with the local authorities, the scheme will holistically enhance the biodiversity, ecology and flood resiliency of the site.

Upon completion, Patimban New City will be a leading example of a sustainable maritime city that demonstrates innovative urban development and progressive placemaking strategies, to celebrate a new standard of waterfront living in Indonesia where communities and nature thrive.
